Newspaper transcript – Mr Peter Polland, 270 King Street, Rutherglen, has received official notice of the death of his son, Sapper James Polland, 2nd L.D.E. (T.), who died of wounds on December 28 on board H.M. hospital ship Oxfordshire, He enlisted at the outbreak of war, and proceeded with his regiment to the Dardanelles. Before the war he was employed as a ship painter in Chalmers’ Shipbuilding Yard, Rutherglen. He was 20 years of age.
