Newspaper transcript – Rutherglen. Mrs. O’Rourke, 9 High Street, Rutherglen, has received official information that her brother, Private Edward McDonald, D Company Royal Scots, No. 18440, has been killed at the front. He was a reservist, and before the war was employed at Messrs. Stewart’s and Lloyd’s, Rutherglen. He was called up in February. His commanding officer wrote that Private McDonald was one of the best soldiers under him.

Newspaper transcript – Intimation has been received by Mrs O’Rourke, 9 High Street, Rutherglen, that her brother Private Edward McDonald (22), Royal Scots, was killed at the front. He was a Reservist, and was employed at Messrs. Stewarts and Lloyds’, Rutherglen. He served in India prior to the war.
