Newspaper transcript – Pte. W Johnson, Glasgow. Mrs Johnson, Cambuslang Road, Rutherglen, has received intimation that her husband, Private Walter Johnson, Scottish Rifles, was killed in action on November 25, 1917. He was 37 years of age and before enlisting was employed by the Clyde Paper Co.. Rutherglen.

Newspaper transcript – Pte. W Johnson, Rutherglen. Intimation has been received by Mrs Johnson, McAlpine Place, Rutherglen,  that her husband, Private Walter Johnson, has been killed in action. He was 37 years of age and was in the employment of the Clyde Paper Co., Ltd.. Rutherglen. He leaves a widow and family. of five.

Also commemorated on the memorial in East Parish Church, Rutherglen.

*The correct spelling of the surname is Johnson although there are different spellings used on  documents. In the Rutherglen Lore book his photograph is incorrectly labelled as William.
