Newspaper transcript – Mrs Hugh Haughen, 67 Glasgow Road, Rutherglen, has received intimation that her eldest son, Pte. Daniel Haughen, Royal Scots, was killed in action in France on 12th Oct., 1917. His father, the late Mr Hugh Haughen, was well known in the Bridgeton district about 20 years ago. Since the death of his father the young man had been the mainstay of the home. Pte. Haughen’s mother is the eldest daughter of the late Mr Walter Grant, 1 Gartocher Road, Shettleston. The many friend os the Grant family in St Paul’s parish will sympathise with is mother on her great loss. Mrs Haughen has other two sons serving with the colours. – R.I.P.

Newspaper transcript – Mrs Haughen, 67 Glasgow Road, Rutherglen, has received intimation that her eldest son, Pte. Daniel Haughen, Royal Scots, was killed in action in France on 12th October last. Previous to enlisting Pte. Haughen was employed by Wm. Dixon, Ltd.
Mrs Haughen’s youngest son, Pte. Hugh Haughen, Scottish Rifles, died in Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow, on the 10th January, 1918, of peritonitis and appendicitis. Previous to enlisting, Pte. Hugh Haughen was employed as a practical saddler for a period of eight years with Messrs. George J. Govan & Son, saddlers, Rutherglen.
