Newspaper transcript – Pte. Andrew Gibson. On the day following the celebration of his 27tth birthday, Pte. Andrew Gibson, of the 92nd battalion; was a victim of a German bullet, in France. His family at 25 Picton Street West, this morning were the recipients of the sad message announcing that he had been killed in action on August 8.
Enlisting in the 92nd battalion, Pte. Gibson went overseas in May, 1916. Until five months ago he was engaged as a sergeant-instructor in a camp in England, but he reverted to the rank of private to cross to the trenches.
Pte. Gibson was born in Blairgowrie, Scotland, and had resided in this country for 6 1/2 years. He was employed at the G.T.R. freight sheds, and was a member on Knox Presbyterian Church. To mourn his heroic sacrifice he leaves his wife and one child, both parents and a sister, all of whom reside at 25 Picton Street West.
