Newspaper transcript – Pte. H. Kain, Rutherglen. Official intimation has been received by Mrs Kain, 2 Menzies Place, Rutherglen, that her husband, Pte. H. Kain, R.A.M.C., was killed in action on August 7, 1917. Pte. Kain was previously employed by J Brown and Sons, Adelphi St., Bridgeton.
*Hugh’s brother Henry also lost his life in WWI. He was a Lance Corporal in the Gordon Highlanders. He died on 13/5/1918 in France and Flanders. Henry was a recipient of the Military Medal.
