Newspaper transcript – Private John Young Orr, H.L.I., elder son of the late Mr David Young Orr, Struan, Rutherglen, was killed in France on January 11. He was 20 years of age. His father was well known in the district, and was chairman of the Airdrie Liberal Association.
*John’s brother Andrew Robertson Young also died in the war. However, he does not appear on either the Rutherglen Cenotaph or in the Rutherglen Lore book.
