Newspaper transcript – Pte. J. Burke, Rutherglen. Mrs Deans, 51 New Street, Rutherglen, has received official intimation that her grandson, Private John Burke, Royal Scots, was killed on April 11. He was 21 years of age, and prior to enlistment was employed at Messrs., Dixon’s Colliery, Blantyre.
