Newspaper transcript – Mr and Mrs Robert Samson, 5 Millcroft Rows, Rutherglen Road, Glasgow, S.S., have received official notification that their son, Lance Corporal Alexander Samson, Cameron Highlanders, was killed in action. He enlisted on January 11, 1915, and was 21 years of age. Prior to enlisting he was employed as a miner at No. 6 Pit, Govan Colliery (Messrs Wm. Dixon, Ltd.).
