Newspaper transcript – Mrs Reid, 17 Hamilton Road, has ? information of the death of her son Private Charles J Reid (19) No. 10500 Scots Guards, ? was killed in action in France. He was shot through the heart. He was a ? . Prior to joining the ? he was employed  to the wages department of Messrs. Templeton and Co., carpet manufacturers, Greenhead, Glasgow.

Also commemorated on the memorial at Stonelaw High School, Rutherglen and Rutherglen Old Parish Church and Wardlawhill Parish Church, Rutherglen.

*There is a Charles Reid as well as a J C Reid on the cenotaph. However, I believe they are the same person as I can find no record of JC Reid in the army records and the only birth in Rutherglen in the correct time frame is James Charles Reid born 1896.
