He was shot through the heart. He was a ? . Prior to joining the ? he was employed to the wages department of Messrs. Templeton and Co., carpet manufacturers, Greenhead, Glasgow.

*There is a Charles Reid as well as a J C Reid on the cenotaph. However, I believe they are the same person as I can find no record of JC Reid in the army records and the only birth in Rutherglen in the correct time frame is James Charles Reid born 1896.
