Newspaper transcript – Mrs Steel, 29 Farie Street, Rutherglen, has received official information that her son, Private Francis S. Steel, Royal Scots, was drowned in France on July 15, 1916. Prior to enlisting Private Steel was employed in Chalmer’s Shipbuilding Yard, Rutherglen. He was 19 years of age.
