Newspaper transcript – Mrs Sarah Ward, 10 India Street, Rutherglen, has received official information that her husband Private Francis Ward, H.L.I., was killed in action on 4th August, 1916. He was 32 years of age. Prior to enlisting he was employed at Stewarts and Lloyd’s tube works, Rutherglen. He leaves a widow and two children.
