Newspaper transcript – C.S.M. Carmichael, Rutherglen. Mr William Carmichael, 7 Barnflat Street, Rutherglen, has received intimation that his brother Company Sergeant Major George Carmichael, was killed on November 30. He was 34 years of age and joined the Army during the South African War. When serving, he was a well-known athlete, and had won cups and other prizes for ? in India and Africa.
