Newspaper transcript – Mr Thomas Crabbe, 2 Wardlaw Drive, Rutherglen, has been officially notified that his son, Corpl, George Crabbe, Seaforth Highlanders, was killed in action in France on July 15. Prior to enlisting in September, 1914, he was employed in Singer’s, Clydebank.

Also commemorated on the family headstone in Rutherglen Cemetery.

Headstone reads – Their son George killed at Somme 14th July 1916 aged 24.
