Mr and Mrs James Gillies, who reside at 28 Glasgow Road, Rutherglen, have received intimation that their son Sergeant-Major James Joseph Gillies, Australian Imperial Forces, was killed on September 29. He was 33 years of age, emigrated to Australia about five years ago, prior to enlistment was employed in the Excise at Sydney. He leaves a widow at Sydney.
