Newspaper transcript – Mrs Gemmell, 27 Victoria Street, Rutherglen, has been informed by the War Office, that her son Gunner J. Gemmell, R.F.A., died on 15th June, 1916 in hospital in London of wounds received in action. His body was brought home and the funeral, with military honours, took place yesterday. Gunner Gemmell who was 26 years of age joined the Army 18 months ago when he was employed by Whites, Rutherglen.
