Newspaper transcript – Peter Barton, 7th H.L.I., was killed at the Dardanelles on July 12. The commanding officer and some of his comrades have also forwarded letters of condolence. Private Barton enlisted shortly after the outbreak of hostilities, and his father is serving with the 3rd Cameron Highlanders, while his brother, Private James Barton, formerly a taxi-driver in Glasgow, is with the Motor Transport Section of the A.S.C.
