Newspaper transcript – Rutherglen Soldier Killed. Mrs. Tonner, 60 High Street, Rutherglen, has received intimation of the death of her husband, Private Peter Tonner (22), of the 1st Battalion Royal Scots, who was killed in action in France.
Private Tonner joined the Army on 3rd September, and went to France on 6th March. Prior to enlisting he was employed at the tube works of Messrs, Stewarts & Lloyds, Rutherglen.
