Newspaper transcript – Corporal Thomas McConnell, 9th Gordon Highlanders, has been killed in action in France. He was the second son of Mr T. B. McConnell, Parkill, Rutherglen, an ex Town Councillor of the burgh. Prior to the war he was a manager in the employment of Messrs William Baird and Co., Bothwell.
