Newspaper transcript – Mrs Pepper, 71 Mill Street, Rutherglen, has received official intimation that her husband, Private William Pepper, Royal Scots, was killed in action on June 24. Private Pepper, who was 33 years of age, prior to enlisting was employed by Stewarts and Lloyds, Glasgow. He leaves a widow and four children.

Also commemorated on the memorial in Rutherglen Old Parish Church.

William’s son Robert died in WWII on the 30 Nov 1942 in Italy.
