Newspaper transcript – Rutherglen Soldier Killed. Intimation has been received by Mrs. Sharkey, a widow, residing at 8 Bouverie Street, Rutherglen, of the death of her son, Private William Sharkey (22), of the 1st Arygll and Sutherland Highlanders, who died of his wounds in France. His brother Samuel was wounded at Neuve Chapelle, and has been home on the sick list, but leaves tomorrow for the Front.

He joined his regiment three years ago.
