Scots Guards, eldest s. of John Woodburn, of 181, Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen, by his wife, Isabella T., daughter. of James Archibald Melville; b. Belfield, Lesmahagow, co. Lanark, 13 Jan. 1893; educ. Coalburn Public School there; was employed as a Traveller with Messers. Frame & Co., of Robertson Street, Glasgow, but enlisted after the outbreak of war 4 Sept. 1914; went to France in Feb. 1915; was wounded in March, and after spending 18 days in hospital in France, returned to the trenches and was killed in action at Loos 27 Sept. following. Buried in the Burial Ground there. He was a member of the Bellahouston Harriers, and of the Y.M.C.A.; unm.
